Summer Highlights in Plumas-Eureka State Park
The park comes alive with opportunities to camp under the stars, explore scenic hiking trails, and step back in time with tours of the historic mining complex.
Don’t miss the Park museum and store in the original bunkhouse, where you can dive into the story of the region’s gold rush past through exhibits and attractions that showcase the park’s rich natural and cultural history.

Stop by the Museum Store for a unique selection of items that reflect the spirit and history of the Park.
The store offers cold drinks, snacks, and ice cream—perfect for a post-hike treat. For campers the store has ice and firewood for sale, when permitted.
You'll also find guidebooks and maps to orient you. Plus polished rocks, toys for kids, souvenirs, and more to remember your visit.

The Park and surrounding region offer a hiker’s paradise. Campers can set out right from their sites, while day use visitors have easy access to nearby parking and a network of scenic trails.
Paths wind through the stunning Lakes Basin Recreation Area and connect with the iconic Pacific Crest Trail.

Plumas-Eureka State Park is a prime destination for anglers, offering a variety of fishing opportunities in both lakes and streams. Whether you're casting into Jamison Creek or exploring nearby alpine lakes, the area provides a rich and scenic fishing experience.
Fishing is permitted throughout the park, but visitors are responsible for following all current fishing regulations. Plumas County supports year-round lake fishing, while most streams are open from the last weekend in April through mid-November.

Jamison Creek has 67 campsites with picnic tables, fire rings and bear-proof food lockers. Piped drinking water, restrooms, and hot showers are nearby.
Sites accommodate trailers up to 24 feet and motor homes up to 28 feet. Reservations are recommended from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Call 800-444-7275 or make reservations online at reservecalifornia.com.
The campground closes from October through late spring.

Blacksmith Demonstration
Learn how vitally important Blacksmithing was to hard rock mining operations. Watch Plumas-Eureka State Park docent Tim, as he demonstrates skills of the trade.
Assay Office
Watch our docents demonstrate the age-old process of super heating quartz ore with fluxes and equipment to determine the gold content from a rock sample. This process is still in use today for determining valuable mining locations.
